Binary mixtures of choline chloride-based deep eutectic solvents as green extractants for the extraction of benzene from n-hexane

Abstract A suitable green solvent for extraction of aromatics from aliphatics must possess good solvation and physicochemical properties, a rare occurrence in single deep eutectic (DES). Mixture DESs could enable synergy provide candidate extractant. In this study, glyceline, ethaline, reline were synthesized their binary mixtures (glyceline/ethaline, reline/ethaline, glyceline/reline) produced by blending various volume proportions. Twelve such mixed solvents prepared efficiency separating benzene n -hexane investigated batch equilibrium process. Liquid–liquid equilibria (LLE) data the pseudo-ternary systems + measured at 303 K 101.3 kPa. The distribution coefficient ( D ) selectivity S each system determined to elicit efficiency. properties also measured. results show that generally coefficients, selectivities, lie between corresponding values constituent DES. best performance was given glyceline ethaline 80:20 ratio, respectively, with = 0.75 422.485. This assertion further corroborated higher percent recovery obtained said DES (57.88%) relative other (≤ 49.11%) examined study. Furthermore, its separation is superior sulfolane but lower than though there 9.4% reduction viscosity glyceline.
